Halloween Poems

And of course Eric the Crow has to be included
for Halloween!

Ghosties and ghoulies, and things that are grimy

Bugs that go splat and slugs that are slimy

There’s beetles and snails sliding over your hand,

leaving slime on your nails trapping bugs that land.

Then there are spiders which lurk in dark places

with black beady eyes trying to see where your face is.

They’ll tickle your nose and then tickle your ear

then scuttle away while you tremble with fear.

What was that noise??

It came from the tree

Oh it’s only a black cat

but then could it be

A witch in a black hat

coming for tea?

Ooooo woooohhhh!!!

What’s that noise?

it’s the winds ghostly voices.

What was the crash?

oh it’s only a bin.

Or was it a ghoulie

trying to get in?

What is that howling?

Sigh… it’s next doors dog

He hasn’t been fed yet.

He’s eating a log!!

Stop who goes there

with those great big eyes

So fiery and yellow, horrible but wise

It’s only an owl in the old oak tree

He’s watching us all including me.

He’s enjoying the party on this Halloween.

Have a happy, safe Halloween

I’m hiding here under the bedcovers,

Frightened and frozen with fear.

Whose is the withered hand?

Knobby and gnarled

with dagger shaped nails.

What is the strange noise?

The heavy breathing,

there’s someone lurking there.

What’s the shadow on the landing?

I can hear voices, whisperings, noises.

There’s the darkness. Now…

Something is grasping,

Twisting the door handle,

Slowly slowly

The door handles turns and creaks

now footsteps getting closer

getting closer!!

Something’s coming!
 Oh no!

They’re coming in!

They’re coming round

The horrible fingers grip the edge of the door

The slowly, creakingly door opens,

There is a horrible dark shadow looming over me,

I’m shaking with fear under the covers…

And the monster that came in speaks…

It says…it says

You should be fast asleep by now.

It’s the end of Halloween

Good Night!’
